I'm doing my Gong Fu.

In 1582 the Chinese missionary of the Jésuite religion with the first priest from the Jesus company had arrived and was demolished in 1773 by the dissolution of the Order. Encouraged with the approached of the uncultured missionary and understood that they would be accepted by China for there wisdom, literacy and intelligence the missionary men learned profoundly the Chinese culture in every form. This contributions would open the imperial doors. Over a simple way of thinking therfore the Jésuite found their way on admiring and appreciate the Chinese way of living.

One day a missionary asked a monk : What are you doing ? the monk answered : "I’m doing my Gong Fu". He would explain to the missionary that part of exercising the martial art of Gong Fu consist of studying, meditating, praying, help the elders and the young, nuture you’re health and to work specifically you’re martial art. All of his task were done intentionally and discipline within the Gong Fu teachings.

The Art of Shaolin Kung Fu

John Hepburn Dudgeon (1837 – 1901) was a Scotish Physician whos spent almost 40 years of his life in China as a doctor, surgeon, translator, and medical missionnary. He wrote at the end of the 19th century many books about chinese disease  ans different exercices leanrned in China : "Kung Fu or Taoist Medical Gymnastics : The Art of Shaolin Kung Fu", "Traditional Chinese Medicine and Qigong Beginning Practice", et "Chinese healing arts : Internal Kung-Fu".

True or False

Q.: Is the Kung Fu form ancient and the Wu Shu modern ?

A.: False. Wu Shu translate with the martial arts.

There are two types of Wu Shu : Modern and Traditional.

The Traditional Wu Shu – is a rigourous art forms and it combines with internal and external techniques. The martials arts applications are studied and practiced and, the Fa Fings (explosion of energy)are continuously solicitated.

The Modern Wu Shu – training is more sportive and intensive. This art defines and studies the Northern  and the Southern styles. The students that practices this art becomes agile, fast and able to perform acrobatics movements.

True or False

Q.: The San Da and the San Shou are the same art form ?

A.: False the San Da is the modern art form of the San Shou.

The San Shou is a defensive practice in between two people. In the 20th century this art is not considered has a martial art on its own but if you compose it with training and practice with its form within a chinese  martial arts school. Normally its considered to practice the application of martial arts.

The 4 forms of defensives arts are .:

  • DA .: To strike is to applicate your fingers, hands, fist, arm, elbow, shoulder and head.
  • Tui.: The legs, is to applicate your feet, tibia, knees, waist and sweeping (sao)
  • Shuai.: Using technics of projections and falling.
  • Na.: Using technics of seize and control

For competitive reasons the San Shou became the San Da, a version more  sportive and resemble more of Kick Boxing. Meaning the combat system will use only the feet and the fist (kicks and punches). Therefore no holds no projections, no fallings and no ground combats.

San Shou – the hands dispersion

San Da – the hits dispersion.

The San Shou is practiced in our school in codified forms. The student will practice a series of San Shou with an another student to amplifiy its complexity within his level.

The San Da is only practiced with forms and routine training and not of free sparring or full contact. People who would like to join our school will have to considered this fact.
